Blind Date!
Apologies to my colorblind readers! Personally I am not actually colorblind, my comics coloring just makes it looks like I am.

This reminds of a quote I once read:
When you wear rose-colored glasses, all the red flags just look like flags.
— Bojack Horseman
For those who don’t speak English natively, a “red flag” is a figure of speech that means a “sign that something is wrong.” For example, “I ignored the red flags” means “I chose to ignore signs that something was wrong.”
This is often said in regards to romantic relationships (such as when someone ignores signs that their love interest is a less-than-ideal partner), but it can also be used in other aspects, such as starting a large project you might be under-prepared for.
Out of curiosity, does Norwegian also have this “red flag” expression?
I think there is no space for the euphemism “less than ideal”here, it gives the impression that the person mentioning the red flags is picky. Red flags means that something is seriously wrong and a relationship with such person probably will result in disaster.
T, I do agree. Perhaps I should have written less-than-ideal as “less than ideal” (with quotes), but I wanted to give the sense that the partner was not a good match.
But, yeah, a “red flag” in a romantic relationship would mean that the partnership isn’t a good one and should likely be avoided, no matter how much both parties want it to work out.
