Christmas Candy!
‘Tis the season! This is definitely the trend we’re heading towards.
Oh also, if you’ve been reading Optipess through an RSS reader, the comic image might not appear as it used to before. I did some updates on the back end and apparently I broke the RSS feed somehow? No clue what I did, but I’ll look into it!
Wish I could not relate to this, but alas…
*sigh*
Even if one country would stand out and outlaw Christmas advertising until the last week of November/December 1st. If one would do it, others will sure to follow and we can maybe put an end to this mess.
I can’t even enjoy the Christmas spirit because I’ll be full of it by the time of the holiday.
I can confirm the image doesn’t appear in my RSS feed anymore.
Meh, no problem. Except the feed reports the alt text too, which is nice if I’m using a phone/tablet :/
Oh the joys of listening to jingle bells in every store all through October-December.
The same in my country, the Netherlands, and we also have Sinterklaas here.
Around October, almost immediately after Halloween which pretty much replaced a local celebration called Sint Maarten (kids go door to door to sing for a piece of candy) the Sinterklaar decorations go up despite that Sinterklaas doesn’t arrive in the country until November and Sinterklaas evening being on five December.
The stores don’t even wait for Sinterklaas evening like they did a few years ago (then they put the Christmas decorations on that evening) and start advertising for stuff you can buy for Christmas.
It is rather sad for companies and stores that there is no major celebration during the start of the year or during Summer that would involves gift giving.
A local department store did a “Christmas in July” sale this year and they were actually playing Christmas carols. The staff was not amused!
