It’s perhaps political in more ways than you intended?: The horrific monster of Putin has united the West (including NATO and EU etc) more than they have been since the Cold War.
I don’t think the costs were worth it, however. The ends don’t quite justify the means here, and Putin had different ends anyway.
Today’s cartoon reminds me of the 1980s animated cartoon Robotech/Macross. It starts out in the year 1999, with the whole world at war. Eventually, a huge unmanned alien space-warship crash-lands on Earth in the South Pacific, mostly undamaged.
Humans then realize that they are not alone in the universe, and that their neighbors might be very hostile. So the humans team up to learn enough about the warship’s alien technology in the hopes of defending themselves from the threat of alien warfare — thus effectively ending the global war on Earth.
(The arrival of the mysterious spaceship ended the human war on Earth, but unfortunately started another war on Earth — this time an alien war.)
Great comic!

Wow, that was a good guy Cthulhu! ^_^
Great comic, but let’s focus on the small but delightful touches that show your wonderful eye for detail: He’s using a CthuBook (Pro, I’m sure)! :-D
