Definitely one of my biggest movie related pet peeves. Actually, Hollywood should reboot these horrible sequels and prequels already, just so we can say they DEFINITELY exist, in one form or another.

… yet. :O
They can exist all they like, but their title screens don’t make them part of the continuity. They are unrelated, stand-alone movies that co-incidentally have similar titles.
Also, The Hobbit.
Never forget. Never forgive.
I’m gonna bite the bait on this one — I just watched all of the extended editions and the theatrical releases horribly butchered the movies. The extended editions actually explain so much that it’s an absolute travesty that they cut them down. Especially The Desolation, which — while they admittedly cut out a couple juvenile humour scenes like eating sheep’s bollocks (exactly what it sounds) or naked dwarves piggy-back wrestling in the Rivendell fountain — had some massively important plot elements like Thraine, checking on the tomb of the Witch-King, and a respectably long version of the initial Elijah Wood and Ian Holm scene beyond the mere “oh hey, Frodo cameo” that was in the horrible theatrical version. Unexpected Journey had a lot of Mirkwood’s evil magic cut out to the point of being a mere forest, and Five Armies had a lot of gorier battle scenes cut out.
Having watched the extended ones, I have to say that the theatrical versions are the product of executive meddling and retardation. They actually are quite decent movies in their original versions. They’re no Lord of the Rings, of course, but assuming they could equal that level of perfection is just folly. =)
You forgot Highlander: “There Should Have Been Only One”. Also Starship Troopers 2 and 3 (singing sky marshals!), though those were direct-to-video.
Hej!
Tack! :)
There was no sequel to A Clockwork Orange, though ;)
