Phew, if I was a political cartoonist (which I’m not), this comic strip would be my contribution to the health care debate (which it’s not). Luckily!
I like this one, especially the little cross detail in the middle of the red group’s flag, the fact that they’re the away team as opposed to the home team and the victory sign in the background of panel two (which TOTALLY looks like a rabbit).
Though I have to admit, the first thing I thought after reading it was whoa, I never noticed that Kristian actually started drawing elbows…
So is suicide like scoring an own goal?
Am I the only one who thinks the away team’s scarves look like bacon?
@Kim: Hah, that cross thing was a last minute addition when I realized their logo looked just like the Swiss flag. Ultimately all the tiny details in this strip took me forever to draw. Not entirely sure it was worth it. And elbows? I think I’ve been consistently drawing elbows for at least 2 years now! :P
@DJ Bogtrotter: Hah, could be! I think one has to go to at least 6 years of medical school to truly understand the rules of this game.
@Kbman: Entirely not intentional! Although it explains why I got extremely hungry when coloring this strip. Had to make a late snack to keep me fueled for the home stretch.
@Teddy: Ah, I’m not sure if I got the “joke” across properly… but yeah, the basic idea was to put a cheering audience in one of those operating theater auditorium things. Which maybe is amusing.
@AndyLL: Hah, that’s not a bad idea actually – rival teams cheering for their paramedics, and not caring at all about the actual game.
I dont get it
At first I thought the final panel was going to be a football game with the paramedics rushing the field to help some guy.
This is funnier though, of course.
(Of course, when I said “Football” I meant “American Football”, which, in retrospect, wasn’t all that likely.)
My favourite detail by far is the doctor sitting on the floor in the final panel. What’s he looking at? That medical jumbo-tron?? Love it!
I’m confused, who are the green cross? My first thought were medical marijuana clinics. (LA woot)
