I wouldn’t use creepy regarding this comic and especially not that other one linked to. I’d say weirdly heartbreaking and oddly touching would be a better description to choose.
I’d say that person in the other comic was me but I couldn’t put on that level of outward cheeriness ever. I envy anyone who can put up that kind of mask as they do much better then me socially then even my wildest daydream version of myself.
Thanks for your comment. Yeah, I might have classified these two as “creepy” kind of to disarm them slightly – both for myself and anyone reading them. Truth be told, these two are probably some of the most personal comics I’ve made. Even this one with its silly sci-fi premise.
Reminds me of the notion of between western medicine vs eastern medicine. This comic implies that illness is something that can be separated from a being, where as eastern medicine defines illness as imbalance of Qi (which is not something you can just remove out-right).
Hmph! Back in my day, we didn’t have any of these new-fangled force-fields, but when the hoodoo man banished the sickness spirits, they _stayed_ banished! OK, the hoodoo man occasionally cursed you with eye worms for non-payment, but have you ever tried to deal with a modern collection agency?
I watched ‘Warm Bodies’ the other night for the first time. It has characters called “bonies” that are essentially zombies that are so decomposed that all that’s left is bones and rotten muscles. They’re slightly stronger and faster and more dead than regular zombies, and they eat anything with a heartbeat. These illness extractor people kind of resemble bonies.
Expect anti depressants are not instant, usually requiring at least two weeks and might not work at all for the person, which means another one must be tried all over again. But other than that…
Oh I know that. I didn’t mean it quite that litteraly and instant if you will. Anti depressants are however like this machine, markeded as an almost insant fix for your problems, while (if they work) just mask the problem while not fixing the reasons for them.
I’ve definitely got one of those dark humanoids in here with me. And the pawing-at-the-glass sadface is absolutely what it’d do if I abandoned it. Maybe we are better off together, after all. (And now I’m anthropomorphising mental health issues. Oh dear. Le sigh.)

This is the machine mentioned in the Star Trek Next Generation episode ‘Skin of Evil’….

What if it’s just their filthy souls..?
Ahhh, what a wonderful concept for a cheesy sci-fi/zombie horror movie. Love it. :)
Kind of sad and touching. Don’t know what else to say.
That’ll do. :) Thanks for your comment!

What if we are those who remain, not those who leave? :(
I think that is one of the interpretations of this comic
I actually kind of read this as an allegory for anti depressants.

I like how his metal antennae went from limp to spry
This makes me think of how I have viewed my depression like a close friend who is always there for me and I cannot just leave behind…
I feel sorry for the illnesses now
I like these black guys. Maybe they deserve more strips and their own tag :)
