Intense FPS Gaming
Just a head’s up: You probably should play 20 years of FPS games before reading this comic, so get on that right away.
Also, it’s my birthday today! Want to give me an awesome gift? Consider becoming my Patreon patron! It’s the gift that keeps on giving. (Literally). In return, you get cool stuff and my eternal love.
I would play your tower ascent FPS. Happy birthday.
Indeed.
I don’t get it.
I’ve been playing FPS games since Wolfenstein 3D and… stopped a while ago, actually. But I think the problem is actually descending, as a higher position is always winning. Also, you can’t see what’s around you well when you’re descending from a ladder.
That’s my interpretation and happy birthday, Kristian!
Ladders is always troublesome. The good part is that nowadays, you have just to press E.
Vinicius has it correct. This is a play on the fact that everything else was a walk in the park until he faced the most dangerous enemy of all: the ladder.
It was all too easy to accidentally walk off of ladders in the classic FPS era (Half-Life, Counter-Strike, Quake II, etc.) — a concept that’s laughable in reality.
Which is why it’s laughable in a comic, too!
So true! Heroic and nearly invincible until you have to go down a ladder and simply do a suicide jump.
So true, especially for oldschool Ego Shooters.
But you don’t play those with a gamepad, you heretic :P
Hey! It’s my birthday too today :D Btw hate those suicide ladders
Reminds me the old double dragon where arrows indicate where to go.
Early Unreal Engine games (like Deus Ex) were the absolute worst about this. Climb ladder, turn around to look at something, walk off of ladder.
Happy to the birthday to a you!
I don’t get it, either >_<
Also, happy birthday!
Happy birthday to you!
Still an issue in the newer game Minecraft. On the one hand, it does have an actual third dimension to err in. On the other, you can still accidentally wander off the sides of a ladder all too easily.
