> â€Note to self: Don’t draw a bicycle ever again.”
Drawing bicycles is hard. Wednesday’s explainxkcd wiki states that:
“This comic (especially the 2016 bicycle) is possibly also a reference to The Science of Cycology [ link ], a cognitive psychology project run by Rebecca Lawson at the University of Liverpool, which asked study participants to draw a bicycle from memory. The error rate was high, supporting a hypothesis that humans over-estimate their ability to explain how things work. Gianluca Gimini ran a similar project, Velocipedia [ link ], in which he asked people to draw free-hand sketches of bicycles from memory, then later rendered some of the results as if they were real bikes.” ( http://www.explainxkcd.com/wiki/index.php/1673 )
PS — Whenever I don’t understand one of your comics, I go to the explainoptipess wiki. For some strange reason, the meaning of every one of your comics turns out to be “Server not found”or “This webpage is not available”. I guess I’ll never truly understand Norwegian humor.
I think an effort》reward dynamic is at play. Take 4 groups. Group 1 is simply told to draw a bike from memory. Group 2 is informed the bike is going to be made and displayed in an art show. Group 3, art show and that proceeds of sale go to a nominated charity. Group 4 is told they get to keep the bike. If you want to make broad statements about a group, say humans, which avoids the superficial differences “everyone” (reductio ad absurdum, sarcasm, possibly irony- detected) argues about, and suggests people are dumber than they think cos they can’t draw good. There have been great limitations placed over behavioral research, but we can at least try to be rigourous . Gah…
Ah, I stepped away for a moment but you guys worked it all out anyway! To be fair Otter’s probably right. I had to really scramble to make this comic, and towards the end I figured I could’ve spun it another way with another object. Coffee is the obvious one, and although it has been done to death (pun intended) I might’ve been able to make it work somehow.
Aw, that’s sad…

To be honest, I think I seen this joke before, just with a different object.
To be honest, I’ve seen this whiny comment on good jokes before, just with another poster name.
I apologize, I was a mean and stupid, and I realized my criticism over your criticism was actually the whiny one.
An apology on the Internet? Oh gods, the world is really about to end.
Hang on, I just realized that Otter is maybe trolling a low-brow, cheap commenter. Nice one dude, but don’t do it to me alright?
…
Wait a sec…

And this is how the zombie apocalypse started.
I was going to say . . . no ‘zombies’ tag?
Even if he’s not raised from the dead, at least he will be a well lubed grandpa.
