:D Genious! It’s such an annoying trope in creature horror movies, like in vampire movies and such. I guess you can only use the term “zombie” if it’s an established in-world trope, whereas most plots want to establish the occurence as the first-of-its-kind (so nobody came up with a catchier name before). If they did use the term zombie, viewers could assume this must’ve already been a thing in this world indicating a rich background story to dive into even if that was not at all intended by the creators. Or they want to do a vampire movie but they don’t want their viewers to be prejudiced as to what a vampire is and how it can be killed and stuff, making a science out of it. Ironically, this means a whole genre can’t use its proper genre names which always feels odd watching … and now that I reread my comment I noticed I’ve become a jokesplainer. :-|
