Love is Blind
Uh-oh, I guess I just alienated a small but significant percentage of my readership. (More specifically, 8% of male readers and 0.5% of female readers.) Sorry, guys!

“marty her?” i don’t get it ;)
Ah, well… Normally I’d change the comic to make it more readable, but here it’s sort of the point. Maybe this link helps: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ishihara_color_test.
Or maybe you’re amongst that aformentioned 8%? :)
so, what does it say?
I bumped up the brightness and saturation and it does say “Marry Me?”. Cute, so she must be part of that 0.5%
Yup, I’m one of the 8%. Anyway, gotta go, this plane isn’t going to land itself.
Isn’t usually us dude’s who miss the point entirely and want get down to lunch? Nice work btw!
I always love your comics… but as one of the 8% this one was lost on me which i think made it even funnier. Anyways looking forward to the next one love all your stuff!
I really love your attention to detail on this one. Not just the second panel, but the comedic timing and the subtle facial expressions. Your artwork is really improving tremendously.
Oh, and also, LOL.
Great idea! I almost couldn’t read it, though :C I’m short-sighted, but I don’t know if that has anything to do with the colour combination.
Wait, you alienated the small-but-significant percentage of your readership? Are you saying short people can’t see as well as tall people, meaning you’re implying that they’re not as good as them? And you’re saying that tall people aren’t significant? You may have just offended all your readers that are either tall or short. Nice going.
=P
Also, I want to see this happen. Does anyone happen to know a single, colour blind lady who hasn’t read this strip yet?
That was funny ^^
Gotta love that final expression.
See, this is a good strategy. He just saved himself from marrying a woman with an obvious genetic defect.
If this had gone well, At lunch he would have tested her for various common food allergies.
@DJBogtrotter, @Vault dweller: Oh no! Now I feel kinda bad. Actually I ran the strip through a colorblind simulator before posting it, and discovered it would be next to impossible to read for people with deuteranope and protanope color blindness.
I used the exact colors from an actual Ishihara plate, so people with normal vision shouldn’t have a problem reading it – well, granted that the words were arranged good enough.
@Dylan: Oh no! Now I feel even worse. I think I actually attempted to suggest that my entire readership is equally significant, but looks like I failed!
@Andy L: Definitely. I contemplated having a fourth panel where he crosses her out on a piece of paper due to her poor genetics. That would be a decent inclusion if I ever started doing “hidden” extra panels like SMBC or Amazing Superpowers. If nothing else, I should upgrade my Comicpress install so I can use alt/hover-text.
@The rest: Thanks! Oh, and special thanks to Yacine for talking me off the ledge yesterday.
Great … apparently I’m colorblind now. 8% of America and meeeeeeeeee
:( can’t read it
@Vault Dweller
man i thought i was the only who used vault dweller as an internet name thing
If this had gone well, At lunch he would have tested her for various common food allergies.
Wouldn’t it be a bit late by then, as she would’ve already accepted or declined his proposal? Granted, he could’ve still declared the marriage to be off had she failed a later test, and perhaps he’s already ensured a very high probability of success at this stage. I just imagine that food allergies would be more common than 0.5%, and it would seem as if it would be more efficient to check for the more common genetic defects before less common ones.
Also, I didn’t get that he was testing her. I thought it was just one of those weird coincidences that happen in comics, just to make us laugh, and laugh, and laugh. Ho ho ho. :-D
This brought joy to my heart even though I am colorblind. hehe
Lmao, my dad is colorblind. Great idea.
I knew it. Us guys are statistically more blind to colour than females…
FFFUUUUUU…… WHAT DOES IT SAY?!
ugh… So turns out I’m colourblind. I only found out through this.
woooo.
I’m guessing that it was a heart or something? Still funny though.
I think this is the first attempt at romancing/getting her to marry him, that has failed.
NO me causo gracia, pelotudo.
For those who are still here and can’t read it, it says MARRY ME?
Helpppp, i’m colorblind!!! I can’t seeeee!!! Saludos desde Buenos Aires;)
I read it somewhere that girl actually can’t be colour blind, because there eyes are different then men’s eyes.
They can be, it’s just much rarer because of the odd genetics. One interesting point: color-blind folks can see shading and detail better than normal folks, in direct proportion to their degree of color blindness.
You’re a cruel man to do this to us colourblind. Both my sisters and I are colourblind… each with a different type so no one can help me decipher this page!
Gotta love my partial red/green colour blindness >.>
Love the subtlety on this one. Also, I love that not everyone will get it for other reasons.
To my fellow eight percenters: look at the computer at an oblique angle, and you should be able to see it.
So, I can tell which dots are green and which are orange, but I can’t see the message. Could this have something to do with my poor eyesight in general?
Did nobody spot the RING in the last panel???
