Happy Halloween! Why is Gramps holding his bottle in the left hand in the 1st panel, but not anymore in the 3rd? Is kiddo rearranging the crime scene? Smart.
Um, no – his candle simply went out, but I was trying to subtly hint that he maybe was hard on the figurative bottle, and that he’d dropped the actual one to the floor by the third panel. But maybe that could’ve been clearer somehow..? (I guess I could add some “movement lines” in the third panel to indicate that he’s creeping over to his left. Or even a speech bubble with moaning or something in the second panel to make it obvious that he’s not entirely dead at that point.)
I think it’s clear enough — we have the final glowing spark on his candle in panel 2, and in panel 3 his eyes have become crosses.
(By the way, I think the lighting effects from the kid’s face onto the things in front of him are really well done here. And the spooky tree silhouette is very good too. Happy Hallowe’en!)
