On a more serious note, I read somewhere that most parent forget that when the child asks this question, he/she isn’t really interested in the exact step-by-step guide, just a general outline of the topic, so substituted or simplified words can be used and should be fine (plant a seed, egg, etc.) and that should satisfy every but the most persistent child’s curiosity. And they are probably asking this in a series of questions anyway, in which case it’s not a problem if you keep it short.

I did some research while making this one (only on the first part), it works with most carbonated sodas. Diet Coke apparently works the best, though.
