Point taken! Thing is, I usually finish these strips 30 minutes before my posting “deadline” (i.e. bedtime), and by then I’ve most likely grown sick of the entire thing and also probably lost focus of what I was even set out to do anyway. This strip was no exception, and I figured it hinged a lot on the reader being familiar with Batman’s “world’s greatest detective” nickname, so I got somewhat worried at the end if it worked at all without that knowledge.
I never knew that Batman’s nickname was “world’s greatest detective”before I read your comment, but after after that, I still don’t get what the joke is.
Well, it also hinges on a factoid about private detectives, and how they mostly just get dull assignements involving cheating spouses. So basically the joke is that Gordon uses the batsignal to summon Batman for some petty personal business, but ultimately meant to tie in with his “detective” moniker. However, it is indeed entirely possible that I didn’t communicate that in the best way, so that’s why I ended up with some slight doubts when posting this one.
Love this one. I’d like to see a follow up of Mrs. Gordon using the Batlight to call Batman down to open a jar of pickles for her, now that would be improper use.
Possibly! Or maybe she’s involved in a mystery and in need of some actual detective work, i.e. a missing sock behind the couch or something. You can always count on poor Batman for even the most menial tasks…
For shame, Mrs. Gordon!
ahahaha great one. i really laughed out loud.
Now all I want is a remake of Chinatown starring Batman.
Batman-melody to complement this, Your Optipessness. : )
“Hope this makes sense”, you sure say that a lot. Stop being so unsure of yourself; your comics are awesome.

But yeah, thanks!
Oh man, I can totally relate to hating your own creation by the time you finish it
It doesn’t make sense to me…

Whoa, wait, is that Alfred in the window? If that was intended Kristian, kudos. Actually, kudos either way.
