Underwater Invention
This comic strip is best consumed along with some horrible canned food on the side. Also, here’s some news tidbits:
1.) It’s vacation time over here at Optipess Studios – so I will be taking a bit of a break over the next few weeks. Fear not, I plan to return to the regular schedule by 19th of August – at the very latest, that is! I have some other cool projects I want to devote some time to, (and I am also looking forward to doing absolutely nothing as well). I think I have a few more older retro comics lying around, so I might post those while I’m away. Be sure to follow me on Twitter, Facebook, Google Plus or RSS to get notified immideately of new comics.
2.) Also, there’s a new print over at the Society6 store! AND there’s FREE worldwide shipping through Sunday. Buy stuff to grace your naked walls!
I don’t know. Eating seamen doesn’t sound too appetizing. :P
Haha, nice one!
I bet the day octopusses are starting to make their own tools will be the beginning of the end of mankind as the planet’s dominant species.
I really like the underwater effects in the backgrounds by the way.
Enjoy your vacation!
They already do, but so far it’s just sticks and shells. Metalwork it a little tougher underwater. :-)
Older and retro mean the same in this case :) One is enough. And I would love another episode of “Bad comics”, there are a few nice ones in there so I’m looking forward to it.
While this strip is great, I kinda question the use of woodcut. Don’t get me wrong, it looks really nice! But I just thought that the woodcuts were for an era where paper wasn’t too common, and this has a submarine in it…

FYI: If I remember the first can factory was build around 1812. The first functionable can opener was invented in 1855 (by Robert Yates, I think – better look it up.)
