Wish for Wishes
Hopefully you’ll manage to decipher this one. I’d wish you good luck, but… yeah.
Oh, and “a falling star” is the proper way to visualize “a wish”, right? Back me up on this one, guys. I briefly considered a candle or a dandelion. Hm.
Similar comic but different ending! http://www.explosm.net/comics/2243/
Hehehe. BTW, nice webcomic you have here, Optipess!!
Cheers.
There was also a similar comic at SMBC (http://www.smbc-comics.com/index.php?db=comics&id=2740#comic , the ending was closer to the cyanide one but same thing, genies and stuff…
also the genies rules are public and fixed at xkcd (http://xkcd.com/1086/)
anyway, Optipess is a great comic indeed!
and another similar comic

Perfect.
Never trust a djinn. The evil ones will screw ya over any way they can and the good ones take everything literally. Either way, wishes from a djinn will get ya monkey fisted.
Even before I read your explanation I thought to myself “wow, how did he come up with a falling star for a wish? That’s brilliant!”
It immediately resonated as a wish for me. I guess because in movies when there’s a shooting/falling star the guy always tells the girl to make a wish
Agreed on all counts! I haven’t seen that used as a symbol for a wish before — I haven’t seen ANYTHING used as a symbol for a wish before — but I immediately understood it and it seemed perfect.
Count me in as one of the people who had no trouble deciphering the cartoon. It only took me a few seconds to realize the star was a stand-in for a wish.
(Personally, I’d put the object before the number. But then, the multiplication here is commutative, so it doesn’t really matter.)
Good cartoon!
I’m a genie in a bottle, guy with glasses.
Gotta rub me the right way, bro.
I’m a genie in a bottle, guy with glasses,
Come, come, come on and let me out.
Looks like he achieved peace on earth at least! What an altruist. Too bad no one was alive to award him the Nobel peace prize.
It would be very hard to hide infinite, or very large finite, number of lamps from other people. So soon everyone would be wishing for random stuff and propably for more lamps. And knowing people, wishing for their neighbour to have less lamps.
Oh yeah, this is true. Although a lot of humans would be crushed by lamps, at least one person should be able to rub a lamp somehow. Their first wish would probably be “Get rid of all these lamps!”.
Awesome. Kristian, as always you have a knack for taking a well-worn comic meme and doing something entirely new and hilarious with it. Bravo :-D
If there are already guys posting other Genie wish comics… should I post the Oglaf one? ;)
Sure, go ahead! Just give us a friendly warning if it’s NSFW. Knowing Oglaf, it probably has some naughty elements…
If stuff you watch is NSFW, you’re in the wrong line of work.
Here it is: oglaf.com/simon/
Again it’s Nsfw, don’t say I didn’t warn anyone. :)
1: That all my wishes will be interpreted according to my obvious intention.
2: That all laws regarding infinite wishes to be repealed.
3: Infinite wishes
